Why is Starting JEE Preparation Early Important for 9th Graders? I have been asked by a lot of students that why it is important for students to study for JEE from class 9th or 10th. It is not that you study for JEE from 9th class but you just approach to studies in a different way – the “JEE way”.
What is the JEE way? The way in which you not only learn the concepts taught in school or elsewhere, but also apply them to some really good quality problems. This is generally not done in school exams. Start attempting different competitive exams sincerely while in class 8th, 9th and 10th.
Why will it be beneficial for if you start doing it early on?
Syllabi for classes 9th & 10th are easy to cope with
You will mostly find the school syllabus easy, at least to study for the new C.B.S.E pattern is much easier than the previous one that was followed until 2010. You have to study only for half the syllabus each semester. So, after doing your schoolwork and other extracurricular activities, you may be left over with some time.
Build a strong foundation in 9th and 10th grades
To build skyscrapers a strong foundation is required. The same applies to academics. If your foundation, i.e. the core concepts of Maths, Physics and Chemistry, is weak, it will be very difficult for you to understand the topics in classes 11 and 12. So, it is very important that you understand everything taught in school very clearly, as cracking the school exams is not a difficult job. You can crack them without even understanding what is being taught.
Learn to tackle exam fear early
If you start attempting different competitive exams like NTSE, NSO, IMO and many others from your school time, you won’t fear exams anymore. However, attempt these exams sincerely, only then you would come to know the exam temperament. Giving these exams would also enlarge your competition to students all across the country, and you will not be confined just to your class. I have seen many students suffering from ‘Exam phobia’, which is the main reason for their failure in the exam. Attempting different exams will help you decrease this fear.
Preparing early will help you think differently
Many students complain that till 10th class everything was very easy and after that when they enter class 11th, they feel the syllabus is quite difficult. And actually, there is a lot of difference in studies till 10th and after that. So students generally can’t cope-up with the syllabus in 11th and 12th, because of the spoon-feeding that they go through till class 10th.
Begin to lay your foundations for JEE and other competitive exams early. Understand concepts thoroughly not just for getting marks, attempt national level exams, shed nervousness – that’s the ‘JEE way’.
